It started out as a couple of friends meeting for coffee and bagels, has expanded to (4) highly-opinionated confederates, and we have now been active for a couple of years. We even have our own t-shirts. It's a good group for a number of reasons, but mainly because no one gets offended very easily. I didn't realize how important this quality was, but politics and the post-covid hangover has made for some rather touchy individuals. I realize that we are all wired differently, and sure that we all have acquaintances who are super-sensitive, but it's really a challenge to constantly have to monitor the subject matter. If you are in need of an opinion, we are the guys. No charge.
I have an affinity for naming our social circles. Besides the Coffee Club, there is the Friday Night Supper Club, Sunday Evening Cocktail Hour, and the New Orleans Social Club. The Supper Club has been active for many years, while the Social Club and Cocktail Hour were created during covid and operated via Zoom. The Cocktail Hour now meets in person, while the New Orleans group still meets throughout the year, usually monthly, except for the (2) weeks dedicated to JazzFest, and then we convene in the Big Easy.
