Bada Bing!

The Sopranos
It's the 25th anniversary year of The Sopranos, and we decided a modified binge was appropriate. Modified because we typically juggle several other series at a given time.
As I write, we are also watching "True Detectives, North Country" and "Monsieur Spade".
After 25 years, I am surprised how little I actually recall, and how well The Sopranos has aged. It's not hard to understand why it typically ranks either number 1 or at the top of any "best series of all times" lists.
I recently read that Steven Van Zandt used his long-term friendship with Bruce Springsteen as the model for his character, Silvio Dante, for his relationship to Tony Soprano. Silvio plays the ideal second-in-command and consigliere, with no desire or designs to become the Boss. His relationship with Springsteen forms the musical core of E-Street, more so than Bruce and Clarence, but clearly there is only one Boss.
For me, Stevie is the consummate rock n' roll renaissance man. Besides E-Street and his acting bonafides, Stevie is a bandleader in his on right, fronting the Disciples of Soul. But probably Stevie's most admirable qualities are his commitment to social activism, his support for other artists, and the founding of TeachRock.
